Our Origin

In recent years, the rapid development of sustainable investment and sustainable business has been met by a valuable counterpart: a renewed sense of public agency, which can be seen globally in the fields of industrial policy, public investment and incentives, financial regulation, and development finance. With one foot in each of these two currents—having built the world’s first emerging market currency impact investment strategy (assets $1 billion), and collaborating with the Green New Deal Network and Sierra Club to shape the investment framework of the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act—Aaron Cantrell founded Future Nexus in 2021 as a field-building platform for a new approach to sustainability.

Our approach aims to strengthen alignment, synergy, and interoperability among the sustainability strategies of public, private, and third sector institutions, to advance global and macroeconomic theories of change, and to develop systems solutions for systems problems.

Our initiatives, including multistakeholder thought leadership programs, interdisciplinary research and advocacy work groups, and partnerships, are vehicles for connecting the ideas, people, and organizations contributing to our mission. This, in turn, underpins the unique value proposition of our research and advisory consulting services for our clients.
